About the Hawker Hunter
The Hawker Hunter, designed by Sir Sydney Camm and built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd, was a British jet-powered fighter aircraft that became one of the most successful and iconic designs of the post-WW II era. Â The Hunter served as a fighter, ground-attack aircraft, and reconnaissance plane in various air forces worldwide.
It’s first flight was in 1951 and it entered service with the RAF in 1954 before being withdrawn from front line service in 1963. However, when this photo was taken in September 1979, the plane was still being used in the RAF for training and reconnaissance purposes.
