I've long had a fascination for old pictures which I find in vintage cameras and I've added several posts on this site featuring pictures I've found on cameras I've acquired from eBay. I've also recently taken some pictures using colour slide film during a holiday this summer, and I've picked up a slide projector so I can replicate the evenings I remember as a child when we used to sit and view the latest pictures my father had taken.
Although the colour slides I took were not mounted, I purchased some blank slide mounts and mounted them and then looked around eBay for an old slide box so I had somewhere to store them. One of the cheapest options I could find also oddly included a few old slides with it, which had been taken by someone, sometime in the last 30 or 40 years.
The interesting thing about slides is that as long as they have not been mistreated, they are as good today as they were when they were taken all those years ago. And because slides normally live in a box, don't take up much room and tend to be left if cupboards and drawers, the majority of them are in good condition.
When I looked at the slides which had arrived with my slide box my interest was immediately raised and I started to have a look on eBay for actual colour slides rather than just the boxes. I was amazed to find that it is easy to pick up collections which have been gathered from houses clearances for not much money - typically a few pounds for a few hundred slides. Consequently, I'm beginning to feel another collecting passion starting!
I've decided however that I won't continue to add found film posts to this site, but instead I've started to put together a new site with a more appropriate url, which will be focused on found films. I don't know if anyone else will be interested, but personally I find I'm fascinated by these images and wonder about the places, people and events that are taking place.
I have however included some of the images which were on those initial slides which I received a few days ago and the are shown below. If anyone recognises any of the locations I'd be interested to find out where they were taken.
