This super 8 vintage home movie features a film which has two main subjects. First is a visit to the Longleat safari park and this is followed by a film taken during a cub scout meeting and games event.
About the film and some stills.
This is the second film I've published from a small batch of super 8 films I bought a few weeks ago. I bought them because I'm trying to include more super 8 films on the site simply because they produce a better quality scan than the smaller frame, and generally older standard 8 films. It is also the second film to feature the Longleat Safari park on Vintage Home Movies.
The images below were all taken from various points from the film's 10 minute duration in order to give an idea of the content.
Longleat and Cub Scout film.
As I said in the introduction this film features two distinct subject areas. Or at least that is the impression given by the title of the film which was written in marker pen on the film's leader.
The actual text of the title is, '1978 - Longleat + Cubcamp Games' which I took to mean two separate events, but when I watched the film I can see that the initial safari park scenes certainly have cub scouts appearing in them. It's possible that the two events took place on the same day, or weekend and the Cub Scout games were held in a secure part of the Safari Park. I did a search to see if I could find a reference to the Scouts using Longleat Safari park for one of their events and couldn't find any reference, but that is not definitive proof that they haven't.
The safari park scenes take up about 1/3 of the film's contents and the Scout games the other two thirds. Unfortunately, the photographer mis-focused during some of the scenes which rather detracts from the value, but much of the film is pretty good quality.
