A Super 8 film in a Bus Museum and Steam Rally

This post features a super 8 home movie which seems to have been taken at a Bus Museum for the first half and then at a Steam Rally. Although I don’t know the exact date the film was taken I think it was sometime in the mid 1970s.

About the Bus Museum film and some stills

This film is another from the batch I purchased from eBay a couple of weeks ago. I’m gradually going through them, scanning & sorting and deciding which films to publish to this site.

The film, like virtually all the others in the batch, was taken on Kodachrome II stock and as I said above probably dates from sometime in the 1970s.

I did a bit of research to try to find the location of the bus museum and initially thought it may be the Wythall museum in Birmingham because some of the images I found of that museum seemed similar to the busses shown in this film. After a bit more research however, I found that it is actually the Crosville Vintage Transport museum in Weston-super-Mare.

After I’d found this out, a lot of things fell into place. For example, the museum is not just for busses, but also features steam engines and steam lorries, which is exactly what is shown in the later section of the film.

Another thing which fell into place once I found the location, is the location of another film in the set.

Last week I published a film of the Red Arrows performing a display over the coast somewhere. When I scanned the film featured in this post, I found at the end a few seconds of the same air display. Obviously the photographer started filming the air display and then changed the film when it ran out and these are the two films.

Some still images from the Bus Museum

The images below will give a taster of the film’s contents.
