Fireworks night – November 1979

A long exposure colour slide taken on Fireworks night, November 5th 1979.

I have a photo category called ‘Exposure issues’ and I considered adding this photo to that category, but on reflection decided that wouldn’t be fair. It is really difficult to get good photos at night using a modern digital camera that have very high ISO settings, so to get a shot as good as this on colour slide film, which was probable about 50 ASA is remarkably good.

It’s interesting that in 1979 the majority of people had fireworks at home in their garden, whereas today most people go to a public display. I’m assuming this photo was taken in a private garden.
