The Ferenc Puskas Stadium Budapest in the 1960s
This is a picture taken inside the Ferenc Puskas Stadium in Budapest probably in the 1960s.
I believe the location is correct – I did a search first for ‘Orion Televizio’, which is on the advertising board at the back of the stadium and when that reported that the Orion Television company was a major supplier of electrical goods in Hungary, I then did a search for ‘sports arena Budapest’ and found this picture which seems to match well.
I’m guessing that this picture was taken during the preparation for a sports event – there are obviously not many people in the audience, and nothing much going on in the field, although there are some people standing by a long jump pit in the foreground and an official has a white marker raised for a good jump. It could be preparation, or it might be a low key, amateur event?
Apparently, this stadium was demolished in 2016 and is currently being rebuilt.
