Notre-Dame cathedral Paris c1960
A picture of the Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris taken in about 1960.
This is, unfortunately, rather a poor quality picture of the Cathedral. It looks as if it is both under exposed, and there is a small amount of camera shake so I suspect that this was taken in the evening with a slow shutter speed. This would account for both the shake and the fact that the dark areas in the picture have a purple hue rather than being black.
From modern day pictures, it looks as if the roadway in front of the Cathedral is now gone and the whole area is pedestrianised – obviously in 1960 when this picture was taken it was possible to drive past the front of the Cathedral and park.
