Durham market place, probably 1970s

This is a picture of the market place in Durham pictured in probably the 1970s.

Now the market place is a pedestrian only area, but at the time his picture was taken it was obviously part of the road network. There are cars parked around the middle of the area; I can spot an Austin 1100, a VW mini bus and a Ford Anglia. Although the date is unknown, it is possible to see from the clock shown in the picture that this was taken at 12:30.
