A candid photo of a woman and her three children in a market in Singapore in the early 1960s. As the woman is looking past the camera to something behind the photographer, one of the children is examining something on the market stall behind her, another child seems to be holding something to eat whilst she carries a baby in a pouch on her back. Behind her a man is crouching down near a tin bath; beside him is a bundle of bamboo canes, so I wonder if he is using water in the bath to bend the canes or sticks into shapes or crafting a basket to sell?
In the extreme, right-hand corner of the picture, we can see another camera which is also pointing at the scene; perhaps this was a trip around the market for a photography club or just a tourist visit?
