This is one of those pictures where I am really grateful to the person who took the shot because they have written the subject, location and date on the slide mount. Therefore I can say with certainty that this is the USS Salem and USS Newport News off the coast of Tangiers on 14th May 1954, the photo obviously having been taken from an aircraft.
