Serviceman outside a work shed

This is a picture of what looks like a serviceman standing outside a hanger or work shed having a picture taken by a friend. I don’t know the date it was taken, but it is a Kodak Red border slide so sometime in the 1940s to 50s. Unfortunately the exposure was wrong and the picture is very over exposed so I can’t read the writing above the door which may have given a clue as to the location and possibly date. I also can’t help wondering what the design is on the shed behind the subject’s head.
