By the 1980 the use of film to record family events and travel was rapidly declining because of the introduction of video tape and home camcorders. The most likely use of film by amateurs in this decade is by serious photographers who already had a library of films which they wanted to maintain and add to, and had good quality equipment. It is unlikely that many of the films would be Standard 8 or ‘snap-shot’ family films.
