This is a photo looking down Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, almost certainly in the late 1960s to very early 1970s. Notable features of the photo are:

  • The large Hotel Ramada Inn billboard on the right, advertising amenities like colour TV and air conditioning which were very big selling points at the time.

  • The dense run of neon signage along Sunset Boulevard – clubs, bars, diners, and music venues that defined the Strip before it was heavily redeveloped.

  • The slightly hilly background is consistent with the Hollywood Hills.

The date of the photo is not marked on the slide, but the cars provide some useful clues as to the date:

  • A Chevrolet Impala from the mid-to-late 1960s is shown front and centre

  • A late 1960s Ford Country Squire wagon

  • A 1960 Chevrolet sedan on the right

Also, none of the cars seem to be newer than about 1970–71
