Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral

I had always believed that the modern cathedral in Liverpool was build because an existing cathedral had been destroyed in bombing during the war, but it seems this is not the case. There have been attempts to build the cathedral for the last 150 years, and the final design is the culmination of that effort.
