The town of Whitby, Yorkshire in about 1955

This is the coastal town of Whitby in Yorkshire taken in 1955 from the viewpoint at the top of the hill where Whitby abbey is situated.

I went on a field trip to Whitby in about 1975 and remember running along the concrete wall that protects the harbour in mid-winter with huge waves breaking against the side - the silly things you do as a teenager !
