North American P-51D Mustang

This iss a photo of a North American P-51D Mustang aircraft.
The Large USAF titles and star-and-bar insignia indicate post-1947 U.S. Air Force markings.ย The black-and-white checkerboard on the nose and tail is a decorative unit-style scheme, commonly applied to restored Mustangs for airshows. Also, the rearing horse emblem on the fin is also typical of display liveries inspired by WWII fighter group insignia.
The tanker behind the aircraft is marked โBLACKBUSHE AIRPORT โ JET A1โ, which places this photo at Blackbushe Airport, Hampshire, UK. Blackbushe was a very popular venue for air displays from the 1950s through the 1970s which dates the photo to sometime between those dates.
