The Winter Palace St. Petersburg – mid 1980s

This is a colour slide of the Winter Palace, part of the larger Hermitage Museum complex in Saint Petersburg which was probably taken in the mid 1980s, towards the end of the soviet era.

The Winter Palace was once the official residence of the Russian tsars and a central site during the Russian Revolution of 1917. By the time this photo was taken however, it had long been part of the state museum system.
