Small industrial Engine at Stratford

This engine is almost certainly one of the small industrial locos displayed at the Stratford railway depot, later renamed to the Stratford Railway Lands Railway Museum. In the 1970sโ1980s Stratford often exhibited small industrial saddle-tanks rescued from scrap.
The number 229 is consistent with Peckett & Sons builderโs works numbers.
Peckett industrial locos often had numbers in this range and used oval plates, although a few other manufacturers (e.g. Hudswell Clarke, Andrew Barclay) used similar styles. The high, boxy cab shape and short wheelbase also fit the profile of a Peckett 0-4-0ST.
