Great Western Railway diesel Railcar no 22

This photo shows one of British Rail’s first attempts at producing a diesel powered railway engine, the Diesel railcar number 22. This was made sometime between 1933 and the early 1940s, and the round GWR on the front of the train confirms that this engine was made before the nationalisation of the railways in 1948 (although this photo was taken much later than that).
The photo was taken at Bridgnorth in Shropshire, and was probably taken on the Severn Valley Railway, which has many preserved and elderly railway engines.
