Chain link car ferry on the Isle of Wight – 1977

This is the chain-link car ferry (the floating bridge) on the Isle of Wight sometime in 1977. The Cowes Floating Bridge has operated since 1859 and used chain-pulled vessels very similar to the one in the photo. The vessel shown here looks like Floating Bridge No. 4 or No. 5, both of which were in use during the 1960s–1970s.
