Redstone rocket booster – Nov 1966

A Redstone rocket booster on display at the Kennedy Space Centre in November 1966.
This rocket was initially developed by Wernher von Braun as a medium range ballistic missile before being repurposed in the 1950s to act as a vehicle to transport the early astronauts into space. The first American man in space, Alan Shepard was propelled on a Redstone booster, as was the second, Gus Grissom both in 1961.
