New home makeover 1960 style

This home movie features a home makeover of a house which was featured a few days ago on vintage home movies.

That film showed the house as it was when the owners first moved in - at least that is my assumption. I have also assumed that the film featured in this post was taken a few months or possibly a year or two later, and is the result of the work the home owner has done to improve the home - what we would call these days a home makeover, but in the 1960s was good old diy.

The film follows a similar path through the house that the original film did, and I suspect the photographer did this purposely to emphasis the home makeover changes they had made. I found it particularly interesting to see the collection of audio equipment in the lounge with a music centre and tape recorder, I remember I had a similar set up when I was a teenager.

I noticed that there is a box of cassettes in the lounge near the music centre and I wondered if this film actually dates from later than the 1960s? When I did some research I found that the cassette as actually introduced in 1963 however, which was earlier than I thought, but it is possible that this film was taken in the early 1970s.

After the lounge the photographer moves into the kitchen and we can see that the old units have been replaced with some snazzy bright red cabinets with integrated shelves for cookery books and spices.

The other interesting point I noticed was the Television in the bedroom which was not a common thing as far as I remember, especially because there was only 3 channels to watch in the 1960s, BBC1, BBC2 and an ITV channel((I remember that channel 4 started in 1982 because the company I worked for, Marconi Instruments, got the contract for supplying the equipment which added the teletext signal to the out of frame lines and I got seconded to that department to help complete the order )).
