MV Cowal on the Firth of Clyde.

This is a colour shot of a Clyde ferry in operation, the MV Cowal which is approaching or leaving a pier somewhere on the Firth of Clyde.
This was a passenger-and-vehicle ferry, with an open vehicle deck at the stern and a passenger promenade deck above. In the photo people can be seen gathered along the railings.
The vessel’s livery—dark hull with a white superstructure—is typical of the old Caledonian Steam Packet Company, later absorbed into Caledonian MacBrayne.
