Clyde passenger steamer Lochiel – mid 1970s

This is a holiday portrait of a girl standing on the docks in Glasgow but from a historical perspective the more interesting aspect of the photo is the ship behind her.
The ship is a Clyde passenger steamer called Lochiel which was operated by David MacBrayne Ltd (the predecessor to what is now Caledonian MacBrayne). Vessels like these ran excursion and island services around the west coast of Scotland at the time this photo was taken in the mid 1970s.
