Snapshot of Reeth in Yorkshire in about 1975

This is a snapshot of Reeth, the main village in Swaledale, North Yorkshire. The giveaway is the sign on the left for “Swaledale Woollens”, which is a well-known shop in Reeth and still trading today.
Straight ahead is St Andrew’s Church, with its distinctive square tower and clock, sitting slightly uphill from the green. The photo was taken from near the edge of the village green, looking up towards the church with stone cottages clustered around.
The cars in the photo include a Morris Marina, Ford Escort Mk2, and possibly a Hillman Avenger.
