The Saucy Sue Submarine – August 1995

This interesting and quirky photograph shows a small submarine-like vessel called “Saucy Sue”, which bears the logo of British Waterways, the former public corporation responsible for maintaining canals and navigable inland waterways in the UK (now succeeded by the Canal & River Trust).

The structure behind the vessel looks like an industrial or workshop building, possibly one of British Waterways’ maintenance depots or engineering workshops but I can’t find any reference to this model so I can’t pinpoint the exact location – any ideas?
