Relaxing on a Sunday afternoon – September 1965

Following on from yesterday’s photo of a hotel or guest room interior, today’s photo shows another room interior but this time showing a family relaxing. Of course I don’t know that this was taken on a Sunday, but that’s what the photo suggested to me.
Some things I noticed about the photo:
The TV has a rounded screen and stands on slender legs which is a style typical of the late 1950s to early 1960s. The sideboard features rich wood veneer and metal handles, a hallmark of mid-century modern design popular in post-war Britain. The green upholstered chair and the crocheted antimacassar on its back are also characteristic of the era.
The parquet flooring, patterned rug, and floral arrangements suggest a tidy, middle-class home. Silverware and framed photos on the sideboard give the impression that the room has been prepared for a family gatherings.
The scene shows an older man holding a baby, another man relaxing or asleep in an armchair. Their clothing of cardigans, slacks, and collared shirts fit mid 1960s fashion.
The overall scene conveys a relaxed, domestic moment โ possibly a Sunday afternoon or family visit.
