A Child at Christmas 1958

A very dirty and faded colour slide of a young child holding a doll next to a decorated artificial Christmas tree that was taken at Christmas in 1958.

Although the photo is really badly marked and dirty, it’s possible to see the decoration of the room, which is very typically 1950s and reminds me of a wallpaper that we had in our home at a similar time. I also remember how the carpets in our house didn’t reach up to the walls but had a few inches of floor showing around the edge of the room. At the time, we always had a real Christmas tree but obviously artificial trees were available at that time, although they weren’t as realistic as the ones today.
