This is a snapshot of a family enjoying a picnic in the countryside, which was probably taken in about 1955. Although it is difficult to be accurate on the timings when there is no additional information like a photo index sheet or development date on the slide itself, I think this is around that date because the subjects appear in an earlier photo I published which was probably taken around 1962.

In this photo, the people are obviously younger, so I’ve estimated it to be around 1955. One of the interesting things that I noticed from the image is the little girl holding a mug and eating a cake. What struck me was the fact that she seems to be drinking tea. I wonder if is or was usual for children to drink tea at such an early age? Our children didn’t start drinking tea or coffee until they were adults.
